Why do I read so little about the meetings of top Sunni and Shiite clerics both in and out of Iraq? At those meetings both groups expressed their wish for violence to end and cooperation to begin. Today, Sadr shut down his militia. Earlier the Government beqan to announce agreement on contentious issues.
Dare we hope that stability is promised? I don't think we have ever been so close to a viable future for Iraq.
It is crunch time! Time for Democrats to get behind a positive program for Iraq and not court defeat as an election gimmick. Given what is now transpiring in Iraq, think about what could happen! General Petraeus has two more weeks and a lot can happen in two weeks.
