I just spent some time going back in this blog to very early posts. Clearly, what I hoped for did not happen, and, shades of Kipling, Ronald Colman, and even some of my earlier thoughts, the light has truly failed.
The administration elected to unify is proving to be perhaps the most divisive in our history. The promise of change has become the threat of change, and the transparency promised has jelled into the exact reverse. Fear is encouraged as a means to achieve haste. Haste then serves to accomplish goals examination would preclude. Congressional oversight is escaped by the appointment of Czars who answer only to the president, and a shadow government begins to supercede the Constitutional one. Even the Inspectors General now answer to the President!
All the while the country splits into two visible factions. One faction seems to be exemplified by Acorn, a toxic, jellyfish like, organization that appears, to me at least, to be the active tool by which the administration seeks to distort the election process, set class against class and race against race. The thought that Acorn and Americor will combine to form the Domestic Security Force President Obama "promised" us frankly scares the bejesus out of me. Armed and trained to the level of the military? With a personality cult going whole hog in the young and uneducated? What could be a worse scenario?( A thought from nowhere...has anyone seen or heard from Louis Farrakhan, Obama's neighbor lately? He seemed to disappear just as Mr. Obama began his ascent.)
The idea of National Service has been around for a long time. I am a supporter of giving time to your country. College education is more needed today than ever before. However, it seems when you read the fine print in the speeches/proposals, and worse yet, bills, these good ideas are being used as cover to achieve hidden goals.
Then there is the birth certificate question. It now appears to me that this is red herring, useful perhaps for diversion. I want to see all those other records! I can't!. All of John Mc Cain's records were immediately public. To this day NONE of President Obama's can be seen by anyone.
And where is the Fourth Estate on any of this? The public should be looking for means to relieve them of their status if they continue to fail in their assigned task. Our system requires an active and unbiased press...the Founding Fathers knew that!
So there you have it. A darkened Oz that tomorrow may well morph into something none of us recognize. For me, things look dark indeed, and I will do my best to thwart what appears to be a fast moving and insidious process.
