Between Trust and Paranoia

With regard to the present administration, all of us now are at different points on a line that stretches from from trust to paranoia. The Obama administration has, with surprising speed, lost supporters to doubt as it moved forward using fear, as I said in an earlier posting "to achieve haste, and haste to accomplish goals examination would preclude".

The frenetic spending, the inaccuracy of vital financial forecasts, the supra-congress czars, and the recently added impression of intimidation, have served to spread that doubt, the health care program even more so.Then came August!

The Democrat Congress went home to face an aroused public. The elderly, long the base for the Democrat Party, are moving away. Independents of all ages are on the move as well, questioning with suspicion the haste demanded in passing this culture changing legislation. The President misspeaks too often: AARP does not in fact support the bill, you may not, in fact, be able to keep your doctor, et al. Trust levels slip and ratings keep falling.

So far so good, in that that is how politics generally works. But there is something else at work here. Fear.

Why so many czars in the White House, some obviously of very radical bent and history, unvetted by Congress or the FBI?

Why are the CIA interrogation duties being transferred to a new group reporting to the White House?

Who will constitute the Civilian Defense Force the President promised us? Acorn? S.E.I.U.? Americor? To whom will it report?

Fears among the population are not a good thing. The administration should work to eliminate them by the transparent and full disclosure of the relevant facts. So far it has not. Secrecy and arbitrary action in this situation engender more fears. The burden of too many reasonable fears can breed paranoia. This Administration should not be encouraging that by neglect.
