Monday in Oz

There may just be a small crack in the castle.

The Wiz sent his finance person to China to reassure the holders of our debt that our currency is sound et al., and one audience laughed in his face. So says Reuters!

That'll teach him! Honest reporting. The domestic media may kowtow, but the Europeans are catching on, and seem to see the Wiz as a great president... for somebody else! It's pretty clear too what at least some of the Chinese think. I'll bet it was a shock to hear the laughter, but it has been too long coming.

The tragedy here is that we need a leader not a cult figure. The world looks to us for leadership, and we are failing them as well. Nothing good can come of this. I wish he were the image he displayed during the campaign. He is not.

I am waiting to hear the next Wiz speech from Egypt. I know in advance that it will sound just great, but what will it set out? Am I nervous? You bet.

That's it from Oz, where that yellow brick road led to a man-ipulator hidden behind a curtain. The Wiz is at his keyboard, and I watch and wince as he presses the keys.
