Trust in a time of No Secrets

Given the details of some exaggerations made by Obama and the Bosnia fiasco of Clinton, my desire to have Trust come into the discussion seems right on target. The truth is that there are few secrets possible in this oh so public world.

That surely stifles everyone who sets foot in front of a microphone, a reporter, or a town hall koffee-klatch. Today's world sees all evil and hears all evil. It also sees and hears every honest slip of the tongue, and thus provides fodder for a salivating opposition. At a time when we need honest discourse, what we may well get is fearful hesitancy.

This aspect of the current campaigns is depressing at best, frightening at worst. What started out to be a giant step forward in unifying the country now seems poised to fracture it and leave scars for decades. Somehow this must be resolved to the benefit of the nation. Right now that does not appear to be the way it is moving. All the candidates must put the the best interests of the country ahead of their own personal ambitions as they go forward, but is that in the nature of the beast?

Trust right now is hard to come by.
