The Pope and our Politics

Just when I become convinced Armageddon is on its way, the Pope shows up and despite the fact that I am barely Christian, let alone Catholic, I find myself inspired. The entire visit, contrived, staged and delivered, merely set a stage for a natural performance, one where the best in humanity shone through. There was a man after my own heart. And soul? He made me question my questions, and I will probably be at that for some time to come.

Then I went back to the political scene, where the worst of everything seems to be on display; two mutts in a dogfight couldn't do it better. This may again prove to the world that we have the peaceful transfer of power, but I'll bet they're laughing their socks off as they watch...and listen.

I wouldn't mind that as much as I do if the world were not going to hell in a handbasket while our government leaders focus their attention on this drawn out contest. AND it will only get worse when the rest of our House and Senate get out in the field trying to get returned to office or helping those who are. We have had fifteen months of this already, and it isn't going to end for well over another half-year!

Can the country handle this? I sure hope so, because if you look nationally and around the world, there are things that require our attention...our full attention. HA!

On that note I will fold and come back tomorrow prepared to go forward with this.
