WHAT?

No mining, no drilling, no nuclear plants. This is supposed to be our salvation from the destruction of the planet and the poisoning of the atmosphere, retention of our glorious open spaces, and the impelling force to develop solar and wind, those lovely clean energies that only kill birds.

All this is being pressed forward at a time when we are so in debt that Moody's is threatening to turn our dollar based government securities into junk bonds. And way beyond that is the fact that the holder of our debt is China.

Not good! Why?

To answer that question, let’s visit Africa, or Brazil, or lots of other places where the Chinese are now very, very visible. What are they doing in those places? They are mining and drilling. Marching in and taking out the oil and coal, to feed the insatiable national furnace of their growing economy (two new coal powered plants a week, for example). And the process has just begun.

So, ladies and gentlemen, be on notice. We are preserving our national, natural resources so that when we screw up our finances some more, we can allow the Chinese to come in and mine, and drill and take those resources, as payment on our debt, to fuel their national furnace. As payment on a debt we wouldn’t have if we were mining and drilling ourselves to benefit our own economy.

It is mind boggling, but don’t laugh. They are already drilling horizontally into our coastal oil deposits from Cuba. Yep, those coastal deposits we can’t drill!

Wonderful! But only if you are Chinese.
