I have just watched Senator Reid of Nevada extoll the virtues of the Bill he has rammed through the Senate under cover of darkness and with unacceptable payoffs to recalcitrant colleagues unwilling to sign. Forget the Bill(which no one has read), the process alone is a disgrace! California will now pick up a portion of Medicaid expenses of both Nebraska and Vermont. As if California doesn't have enough financial problems of its own!
Senator Reid declared glowingly that he, and two other senators who pressed to get this done, were classmates; They began together in the Senate in 1975.
1975! Thirty four years!! Dear Lord! Senatorial senility sets in at twenty! What we have here is a group of Sixties mentality egos determined to go down in history as having brought the progressive dream of National Health Care to fruition. Never mind that the concept and the reality are rejected by the majority of citizens. It's a "we know what's best for you, so shut up and take your medicine" thing. That is scary!
I do not want my life and those of my children and grandchildren burdened with the fruits of the Sixties mentality. I had enough of that then! These men should pack up and go home now to their Senate Health Plan rewards and their way-too-large retirement benefits. If they won't go willingly then we should forcibly send them at the first opportunity.
It now behooves other, less senile senators to back off and begin again. Senators Boxer and Feinstein, in my own state, have cruised for years without meaningful opposition. That is over. Sign on to the fraud of the deals above and you are toast!!!
