After all the missteps, all the melodrama, all the-who is doing what to whom-it looks like the good guys will win in the end. This thing has gotten so convoluted that I can't really figure out who solved the problem. Certainly it doesn't look like the U.S. did, but that doesn't prove a thing. If you'll re-read my original(long, long ago) piece on this, we have a bunch of difficult obstacles to overcome vis a vis influence in the best of times. This was not the best of times! I would be delighted to find that the Obama administration was not in fact one of the bad guys.
I am thrilled to have this over, send Acting President Micheletti all best wishes for a successful termination of his job, and will hope nothing else goes wrong on the course to a free and fair election that is recognized by the world at large.
